Silence is not simply the absence of noise or the shutdown of communications with the outside world, but rather a process of coming to stillness. Silent solitude forges true speech. I am not speaking of physical isolation; solitude here means being alone with the Alone, experiencing the transcendent Other, and growing in awareness of one's identity as the beloved. It is impossible to know another person intimately without spending time together. Silence makes the solitude a reality. It has been said, "Silence is solitude practiced in action."
"Men listened to me expectantly, waiting in silence for my counsel." Job 29:21

Oh love it, Kim0! You know I love this one. S and S - perhaps I shouldn't have given this shout-out.
"Be Still and know that I am God." To know Him more richly, we must have to be quiet. hallelujah...
I am leading a devotional right now on the prayer life of Mother Teresa. She had this idea of stillness down so well too. I must admit that I struggle with it. I fill my environment with noise, both voluntarily and involuntarily and I often don't take time to BE STILL and hear my Lord.
Nice reminder Kim.
Happy Spring!
I really appreciate this, Kim. I've always kept busy, and in moments of quiet I end up doing all the talking to God. I need to learn to stop and listen.
I love the quiet, except when I don't...in the really alone times, if you know what I mean. I tend to forget He is there. You are a wise one, Kim. Thanks for the reminder. You always know how to get down deep to where it really counts. It's like you are looking in where others never really see.
