The next item is to ask myself…who the heck is this kid?!! I was scrolling thru the camera and evidently she decided to have a photo shoot with a friend (left out the friend shots to save that mom some embarrassment). I am of course beyond that at this point. I am truly at a loss to comprehend what this child is thinking sometimes. You must understand I was something of a wall flower as a kid so this behavior is totally beyond my realm of understanding.
So in light of all this ‘self-expression’ I am now in the throngs of another hair coloring thing. Yes, Izy needs some more drama and that would be with her hair. Yeah for me. She wants very blond highlights on dark hair. My question, “you mean that kind of skunk effect?” “Yeah, that’s it!!” she says. Oh goody!!
After a short consultation with Grandma (she use to be a beautician) I have a plan. Now I know you are asking why I don’t just take her in? For one thing she has been getting into some trouble lately and I don’t feeling like rewarding her with a $50 highlight job when she’s not going to like it anyway. I know how to do it for free and then the complaining didn’t cost me anything either. It is all so messed up I can hardly stand it. I would appreciate prayer for my sanity and the ability to read her mind so I can know what she is thinking.
This is the look I get after the fact. Unfortunately I know it well.
Let’s all take a moment and appreciate the simple uncomplicated things we have in our lives all the while knowing that I will be trying to create something ‘fabulous’ with no direction what so ever! Doesn’t that feel good.

My favorite story and I can't see the pictures!! You make me smile Kim. What a great mom you are.
Kim0 - I'm cuttin' right to the chase on this one: Isabel can be thankful; yes that's right, let's show a little Gratitude in your newly baptized state! Kim0, when your oldest punches your dance card, you look for your dance shoes and give it a whirl! I say, the child needs to be thankful! And if you don't like the way mom does the doo, Isabel Arnold, get a job and spring for your own hair commotion! love - grandma care
Great story, but I couldn't see all the pictures either.
Caron's comment made me laugh out loud. I'm going to have to remember that one! When your oldest punches your dance card, you look for your dance shoes and give it a whirl!"
The photo shoot shots came through today. It made me laugh as I remembered my kids doing the same. The photo's were a hoot! Who did they think they were? Back in the day it was all film and we still have the prints. They stood in front of Dave's back drop posing like some sort of models...oh my! When we haul those prints out now they croak! Someday Izzy will look back and wonder what the world she was thinking...you will all have a good laugh. I promise! I thought the pics were a riot!
(Still waiting for the bedroom ones to pop up)
I remember doing that with my friends. We thought we were so sneaky and cool. I guess it's part of life...
I think I'd listen to grandma care, sometimes we have to be tough. They may be mad but we aren't here to be their friends. They can make those relationships with someone else, besides that's really a ego boost for us, not our kids.
God will guide.
So glad the pictures came up! You will get through this tweenager part with Izzy! Then I am going to need some serious help with Zoe! Ask Caren about some of the Greg Johnson stuff...changed my life when my mom was about to give me a twirl out the door when I was 11! Izzy will be ruined for the ordinary because she has a mom and dad who are fiercely loving her...even through all the "commotion"!
