In case you were wondering what happened last night -they played outside, Pst Steve took Sage and his kids to get milk at a farm and Sage got to drink milk 'from a cow!', poor kid grows up on a farm and doesn't know that is where his milk comes from (where are his parents to teach him these things?!), checked the 42+ chickens, looked for barn cat kitties, hit some balls and played in the hose some more. By the time all this was finished and everyone had a snack and cleaned up they were all so tired they wanted to sleep in their own beds. Yeah for me!! About an hour ago I dismantled the town while everyone was outside playing and I haven't heard a word about it since. I did make them clean up all the little extras on the floor when they got back but all seemed to work out fine. What was I worried about?

You dismantled the town?! No-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o.
Just kidding. I would have done that too.
BTW...I've been teaching Alex about chickens giving us eggs and cows giving us milk. He now won't eat eggs and prefers chocolate milk to white milk.
We have had our battles over the same issues. Sage had no idea the milk comes from cows and they made me promise that we would not kill any of the chickens to eat. we all eat the eggs but it was a bit weird at first.
Sage is such a cutie! I can just see those BIG BROWN eyes when he realized where milk came from! How funny!
descriptions like the one you just gave of 'life on the farm'...make me miss it so much. just for a minute. until i remember that there were many days of manure hauling with the wind blowing the wrong direction....
sounds like you have much love for your kids kim- even if they do get under your skin ocassionally...you'd be a freak if they didn't. (at least that's what i tell my freaky self:-)
You have 42+ chickens??!! I am scared to death of chickens. My aunt used to make us pick eggs when we were younger and they used to peck at our hands and fly at us from the perch....yeah I know, should have gotten over this a long time ago.
frazzeled farm wife...i didn't want to admit it- but i am PETRIFIED of chickens too! long story- but i take such comfort in knowing i'm not alone!
Bawck, Bawck...you two chickens!!(Heidi and Chris)
We saw a truck hauling chicken down the highway a few years ago. That was the end of Jenna eating chicken. That was also the beginning of her huge eating disorder...no meat! Thank God she is finally doing really well and eating some meat again. I think she pushed the chicken hauling truck to the back of her mind, haha! ...still no beef or pork. She eats sea food and we keep telling her that they are bottom feeders...yuck!
I've dreamed of chickens, just can't bring myself to add another chore! The cows, horses, goats and dogs seem to be enough to fill my time.
kristi-
i've dreamed about chickens too...or maybe it was a nightmare. they were pecking my eyes out!
